Re: Cathcart: What WE Mean When We Say 'Change'
One would be hard-pressed to find a single word to disagree with in Kevin Cathcart's "What WE Mean When We Say 'Change.'" But he did overlook an incremental step when listing marriage equality.
It is well known that those of us who cover our domestic partners under our employee benefits programs are taxed on our employer's cost of our partners' coverage. During the midterm campaigns we heard promises that this policy would be overturned. WE are still waiting.
With Democrats like these, who needs Republicans?

Re: Steve Kay letter: Coming Out
Although I agree with most of Steve Kay's letter about coming, I cannot agree with his comment about "in the great great majority of cases, nothing will change except their curiosity."
While I do encourage people to come out and personally feel the rewards are worth any risk, I cannot do so without letting people know there is a significant amount of risk involved, ranging from loss of friends and/or family to loss of jobs, risk of harassment (both physical and verbal), etc. To ask people to come out for the general good of the GBLT community without regard for the personal risk involved is selfish and ill advised.
