Concerts By Anti-Gay Singer Cancelled

(London) Two British concerts by a Jamaican reggae singer whose music advocates killing gays have been cancelled following complaints by LGBT rights groups.

Concerts by Bounty Killer were axed in Birmingham and Bradford, but police have failed to stop a third concert planned for London.

British gay rights group Outrage has been on a four year campaign to block performances by reggae musicians who promote hatred against gays.

Four Bounty Killer tracks call for gay people to be burned, drowned, wiped out, stoned and murdered.

The song "Another Level" contains the lyrics "Bun a fire pon a puff and mister fagoty (Uh huh)". The tune "Man A Badman" says "You know we need no promo to rub out dem homo."

And the song "Look Good" has the lyrics "Mi ready fi go wipe out this fag wid pure laser beam."

Promoting hate is a criminal offense in the United Kingdom but prosecuting offenders is usually difficult with prosecutors having to decide what constitutes freedom of speech and what is considered to be inciting a person to commit a crime of violence.

Outrage chastised London police for not cancelling the planned concert in London.

"A white singer who called for the killing of black people would be banned from performing," said Outrage leader Peter Tatchell.

"A similar ban should also apply to singers who incite the murder of gays and lesbians. Incitement to violence and murder is a criminal offence in every country in the world. We want the law enforced."

Tatchell said that a concert in Essen, Germany was cancelled and other German concert dates are now in doubt.

"Gay human rights groups are coordinating a Europe-wide campaign to halt his "Deadly Alliance" tour of the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland," he said.
