(Toronto, Ontario) Toronto Maple Leaf forward
Jiri Tlusty is saying little about pictures of him being kissed from behind by
another man and other shots showing the teen hockey star in the nude that found
their way onto the Internet.
The pictures were apparently taken while the
Czech native was still playing for the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie
Greyhounds last season.
"I used poor judgment in this instance last
season and I have learned a valuable lesson,'' Tlusty said in a statement
released by the Leafs.
"`It will not happen again and I have no further comment.''
The photographs were posted on the Canadian gossip website isthishappening.com late last
week but have since been removed.
"Mr. Tlusty took these photographs of
himself with his camera phone last year," the players attorney, Jerome
Morse wrote in an email to the website demanding they be taken down.
"As such, Mr. Tlusty is the owner of these
photographs and any unauthorized publication of these photographs is a violation
of his copyright."
While the nude photos have been removed the
kissing picture remains up. The identity of the other man has not been
revealed.
In an interview with isthishappening.com Tlusty
was asked about his sexuality.
"I am not gay or bi," he said. "I
don't know nothing about the homosexual."
The Maple Leafs are calling it a learning experience.
"Photographs were posted recently on the
Internet without Jiri's knowledge or consent,'' Leafs general manager John
Ferguson said in a statement.
"He made a naive mistake as a teenager. It's
a lesson in how something private can easily become very public in the Internet
age. Hopefully it's a lesson that other people will learn from as well.''
